Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa.
We will leave Cusco around 5:00am, in a private van in order to reach Mollepata (3850 masl), passing by Izcuchaca and Limatambo. We will arrive to our destination around 07:30 a.m. where we will have some time to have breakfast and introduce ourselves to the chef and muleteer of the group. Here, we will start our first day of tour, walking through a path called Cruzpata; a viewpoint from where you can see the majestic Humantay Mountain (5480 masl). Two hours later we will reach Sayllapata, a place where we will have our lunch. After a break, we will continue our hiking for three more hours until we reach our first camping site located in Soraypampa (3900 masl) at approximately 05:00pm. We will enjoy “the tea time” where you can try the famous “coca tea” to counteract the altitude sickness. You will enjoy the night and the Andean sky full of stars. After this, we will enjoy our dinner, talk about all our experiences during the day, relax and sleep in order to be ready for the hardest time of the tour the following day.
Day 2: Soraypampa – Huayracmachay – Chaullay.
After a delicious breakfast, we will get ready for our long trek and stretching exercises. This is going to be a long and tough day because we will reach the highest point of the tour after having walked for about 4 hours in ascent from Soraypampa to the Salkantay pass (4,600 masl). During the ascent, we will see different lagoons and appreciate the change of the ecological level of the Quechua area to the Puna area. If the weather is good, we may see the majestic Apu Salkantay (6,500 masl) which is one of the most important mountains within the geography of the department of Cusco and of the Inka culture. After a detailed explanation about the resources of the area, we will start the descent to the town of Huayracmachay, a place where we will have lunch, after a long nap. We will continue the descent to the town of Chaullay, a place where we will enjoy the second night of our tour. We will see the change of the geography between the cold and dry area where we have been, to the humid and tropical area. We will see the local flora and fauna seeing different kind of birds and plants such as orchids. We will reach the camping site around 5:00 pm. Tea time, dinner and overnight in camping.
Day 3: Chaullay – Sahuayaco – Santa Teresa.
This day will be unforgettable because during the trek, we will admire a variety of flora and fauna, passing by Chaullay, the local community of Collpapampa and jungle area observing a hot springs site located in a valley, close to the curse of the Santa Teresa River, where you will see a variety of orchids and big waterfalls. We will also feel the change of the weather passing through an area called the high jungle. We will then reach Sahuayaco, a beautiful place where we will have lunch and then take a bus to Santa Teresa town where we will spend the third night of the tour in a basic hotel with weeding, double and triple rooms. These rooms have private bathrooms, hot water and TV channel. During the afternoon, the passengers will have the chance to visit Cocalmayo Hot Springs. The dinner will be served in a restaurant and will be prepared based of typical products of the region.
Day 4: Santa teresa – Hidroelectric Power Plant – Aguas Calientes

Our trek begins at 8:00 am. During the route, we will admire the big plantations of coffee, banana, coca and other tropical fruits. Then, we will reach the hydroelectric power plant where we will have to register our names to enter the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. From this point, we will have a 1 and a half hour-walk to Inka Rakay, a place where we will have lunch. After a long nap, we will go to Aguas Calientes o Machu Picchu town, where we will spend our fourth night in a basic hotel with private rooms, hot shower, tv cable and wi-fi. Around 7:00 pm, we will enjoy dinner and prepare the latest details for the most important day of the tour, the visit to the sacred city of the Inkas. ¡MACHU PICCHU!.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco.
Around 4:20am, we will start our final ascent to the Inka citadel of Machu Picchu. In the complex, we will have a 2-hour guided tour visiting the main and most important temples and ceremonial buildings of this area. After that, you will have some free time to visit the complex on your own. After that, you will return to Aguas Calientes and then take a train to return to Cusco.
