Day 1: Arequipa City Tour
Reception and transfer to your hotel.
Lunch in Arequipa (Not included).
2:00pm: Hotel pick up with our tour guide to visit the following places on foot:
Main Square: Surrounded by the church, catedral and many portals, the Main Square presents a beautiful bronze fountain with three bases decorated with the figure of a soldier from the XVI century.
Cathedral of Arequipa: It is considered as one of the first religious monuments of the XVII century in the city. It was built on sillar (Stone of volcanic origin).
La Compañía Cloisters: This complex is integrated by many buildings created by the jesuits for religious purposes such as housing. It is a representative monument of the religious architecture of the XVII century (1660).
La Compañía Church: The current structure dates from 1650. It has approximately 66 canvas paintings of the cusquean art school, from artists such as Bernardo Bitti and Diego de la Puente.
Casa Tristán del Pozo: This old house is the best exponent of the typical ornamentation of Arequipa.
Monastery of Santa Catalina: This monastery was founded in 1579. It worked as a convent, has 3 cloisters and more than a hundred cells, which were arranged along a passage and 6 streets. This monastery is huge!
5:00pm: Return to your hotel. Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 2: Chivay, Salinas & Aguada Blanca
Breakfast at hotel.
Departure from Arequipa at 08:00 a.m. to travel towards the town of Chivay passing by the foothills of the Chachani Volcano, Pampa de Arrieros, Pampa Cañahuas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve where you can appreciate the slender vicuña (Camelid). We will also visit Vizcachani, Tocra, and Pata pampa (Viewpoint of the Andes) located 4910 masl. We wiil stop there to observe the volcanoes of Hulca-Hualca- Sabancaya and Ampato. Late descend towards Chivay (3633 masl), capital of the province of Caylloma.
Lunch in Chivay (Not included) Accomodation in hotel.
During the afternoon, we will visit La Calera Hot Springs. At night, enjoy a folkloric show in a local restaurant. Dinner (Not included).
Overnight in Chivay.
Day 3: Colca & Condor Cross
5:30 a.m. Continental breakfast. Our tour continues in the town of Yanque to observe the typical dance of the Colca Valley (wititti). Right after this, we will head towards the Condor Cross, natural viewpoint where we can see the flight of the condor and the depth of the Colca Canyon. During the tour, we will observe the beautiful terracing of the canyon that is combined with the vegetation and the local people of the region. Once we start our return to Chivay, we will make some stops in important places such as the Mysterious Lagoons of Altahuilque, the hanging tombs of Choquetico, the traditional town of Maca and its colonial church. We will return to Chivay for lunch (Not included).
2:00 p.m. Return to Arequipa.
5:00 p.m. Arrival to Arequipa.
Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 4: Free Day
Breakfast at hotel.
Later that day, we will transfer you to the airport.
Optional Tour: Arequipa Countryside Tour
09:00am: Pick up from your hotel in a panoramic bus. Visit to the following places:
Plaza and viewpoint of Yanahuara: Suburb within the city with buildings built from sillar. It was named World Heritage Cultural of the humanity.
Carmen Alto Viewpoint: You can appreciate the pre-Incan terraces and the course of the Chili River. We will also see and taste some of the local products and fruits such as arequipean papaya or the alfajor.
Outlet Incalpaca and Zoo: It shows a mini zoo where llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos (Camelids) can be found. Here, we can also find the outlet of the recognized factory of Alpaca and baby Alpaca clothes called Incalpaca.
District of Sachaca: Ecological district where we could find its main square and the church of Gertrude the Great.
Tingo: This is a recognized place for its local tourism, surrounded by Chili River. On its left bank, it has an artificial lagoon.
Landscape Way: From Tingo Historical Center, you may observe the green fields, terraces and the countryside area, typical from Arequipa.
Mansión del Fundador: Built by Don García de Carvajal, founder of Arequipa, in the last decade of the XVI century.
Sabandía Mill: This place was built in 1785, represents the typical architecture of the region where the use of sillar was what mattered the most.
Paucarpata terraces: These beautiful terraces are the work of the previous generations in which the contribution of the Inca knowledge was fundamental.
01:00pm: Return to your hotel.
